Concealed Carry Fanny pack - suggestions?

Greetings fellow gimmers!

Would anyone have a recommendation for a concealed carry fanny pack? Any of you use one and like it?

Something that doesn't have "GUN INSIDE" emblazoned in huge orange letters on the front is defiantly a plus.

Here are a few that I was looking at online.

Any fanny pack, even in hot pink in a Hello Kitty theme, screams "concealed carry," IMO. You're just labelling yourself for those who have reason to check for who's packing. Fanny packs just aren't fashionable enough these days, so you'll look a little weird carrying one, which is exactly what you don't want to do.

I tend to agree, at least up here not that many people use them except in tourist type areas.

Unfortunately it seems to be the most convenient type of carry from what I've been reading, especially in the summer.

Plus it lets you keep whatever other 'tactical' gear you feel you might need. Mace, knife, flashlight, sling shot, breath mints and etc. to name a few.

That might work. I think I might be a tad nervous about having a gun pointed down there though. :aetsch:

I'm going to a gun show next weekened I'll have to see what they have for concealed carry there.

STAY AWAY FROM FANNY PACKS!! (unless you own a time machine).

Have something like the smartcarry thing, its called Thunderwear www.thunderwear.com used to use it to carry a .380 with an extra mag. ...still have to wear baggy pants, preferrably an untucked shirt

Would recommend a good Milt Sparks concealed inside-the-pants version with a .45 (that's what i use now). I'm talking about a normal hip version.

www.miltsparks.com seriously, the quality is unmatched.

and oh yeah, STAY AWAY FROM FANNY PACKS.

I carry a Glock 19 in a molded type holster on my belt with an untucked shirt over it. Been doing this for years and no one has ever noticed as near as I can tell.

If anyone ever did say anything, my pre-prepped response will be "Clostomy bag....but I'm cancer free now...." and look down kinda sad like......

That is kind of funny, but kind of not at the same time. Will throw people off guard and make them ashamed of asking at the same time. I'm sure the subject would be dropped immediately.

That should work pretty well. Several years ago, I was undergoing treatment for Leukemia. I had a this tube thing stuck into my chest. (I won't go into details since I don't want to freak anyone out. :-P If your interested google a hickman catheter.) (I'm fine now btw, it's been 5 years. :-D)

Anyway, I was attending a local concert. On the way in they were frisking everyone and checking bags. While frisking me, the guy patted the tube thingamabob in my chest and asked me about it. I told him it was a medical device and he immediately let me through.

Back to the fanny pack issue. Last night I attended a church meeting. I was wearing a black fanny pack. (It is a normal fanny pack, not the holstered type and I was not packing.) It was a bit of an informal meeting. Later on I was talking to the pastor and he asked me if the fanny pack were a ‘tactical’ bag.

I’m not sure what he meant by that. I’m defiantly having second thoughts about fanny pack holsters…

I carry a Wilderness Safepacker with a S&W M296 .44 Special in it. Been carrying the same gun for the same way for 3-4 years. I've _never_ had one person ask one thing about it. Even though I live in rural NE Oklahoma. I carried a black fanny pack for ten years _before_ I got a CCW. Did "everybody know" I was carrying a gun then too? And exactly why should I care? The police and sheriff in the Vinita area have never said anything to me and neither have the Tulsa PD. If they got "suspicious" and asked, I would pull out my CCW. What's the problem?

I think most civilian gun owners _severely_ overestimate the general population and their observational skills. I tend to turn a critical eye on just about everybody looking for bumps or odd body language. But most people are just blissfully unaware. You could have a Desert Eagle under a T-shirt and they wouldn't notice.

I made my carry decision based on my lifestyle and what was comfortable for me. I have ZERO interest in what it "looks like" to anybody else. If I lived in LA and frequented convenience stores after midnight in gang plagued areas, maybe I would worry that I was asking for a confrontation. In the vast majority of cases in the US, that's just not the case. I would argue that a criminal bent on mischief is going to be looking far more at how you dress, what you drive, and whether you are walking around in Condition Green rather than whether you have a black fanny pack on your waist!

http://thewilderness.com/catalog/pro...products_id/18

I usually wear mine with the fanny pack adapter if I'm wearing shorts or something without a belt. Otherwise I use the loop in the back to put in on my belt strong-side. I also bought the carry strap for it and sometimes (especially in the winter with coats) I carry it over one shoulder with the strap going diagonally across my body.

High quality and lots of options.

Re: Concealed Carry Fanny pack - suggestions?

Yeah, I never got what the problem was either. Ok, so other citizens who are into guns and likely carry concealed weapons themselves might suspect something. So? Ok, so some cops might suspect something? I'm licensed so what's the issue? Criminals might no I'm packing. Where's the downside? I usually pocket carry. Sometimes when I'm in rougher quarters and I don't like the way somebody's looking at me I make it pretty obvious that I've got my hand on a gun that's in my pocket and whoever was giving me looks understands my point and goes elsewhere. I carry my gun concealed only because law in my state has no provision for open carry, I'm just complying. The worst problem I see is weird, freaky fellow concealed carry-ers who notice or just think you might have a gun and want to make a big deal out of it to you. That is just annoying and sometimes very rude. Aside from those wackos nobody in my state would bother you about it, plenty of people from tourists to sportsmen and others wear vest, jackets, fanny packs and whatever else. As far as the fashion aspect goes, I never cared about anybody else's idea of what was in style or not. If I have a need to carry odds and ends and a fanny pack is the convenient sollution, that's what I'll use. Any Christian church that takes a stance against the bearing of arms is hypocritical, I would consider the rest of their teachings and philosophy high suspect.

Contrary to the "expert" opinions you will get here, a fanny pack is one of many tools you need to have in your toolbox.

Opinions are like pie holes, everyone has one. If you think you need a fanny pack as a tool, by all means get one. They only scream "CCW" to people on internet gun forums who try to be experts. Half the people in the world do not pay adequate attention to know you have one on. The only problem is, the gun board "experts" who say they "scream CCW" will run up to you and in their loudest voice ask you what kind of gun you are carrying.

A baggy shirt over this, may be an option:

I saw Thunderware at a booth at a tradeshow this weekend. All I can say is, "Ouch!" I'm not certain how comfortable I would be with where the muzzle is pointing. :dontknow:
